trophy head zebra
Paper-layered wire skulls revisit San drawings of the hunt and are a witty reference to the mounted-head trophies of stiff-upper-lip, pith-helmet colonial times. Stripped of detail, its skin translucent paper, its bone galvanised steel wire, this new creature makes only passing reference to its original shape. When illuminated, the creamy-white & black paper shade creates an interesting play of light and shadow, defining the shape of the design.
SOUTH can commission other (light) sculptures, from a flock of flying geese to life-size animals as zebra and even elephant. Michael can design almost anything with his huge creativity combined with a great feel for anatomy & dimensions. Please email for further examples of trophies & life size game.
